ZAP has a goal of planting a million trees by 2010 (www.zaptrees.org). ZAP and Vlad delivered the Crepe Myrtle in a bright green electric ZAP truck. The tree was planted in dedication to the new Sue “Olive” Wilson Garden for the Arts & Ethics Academy.
“It takes 200 trees to offset the emissions from a single car annually, which is why we like to do all our tree plantings by delivering the tree in a zero-emission ZAP truck," said ZAP representative Alex Campbell.
Arts & Ethics Academy students, Vlad and ZAP planted the tree together in front of the high school. Students were grateful that Vlad had come to the school to help them with the tree planting and posed for pictures with him. An renowned musician, Vlad is an advisor to the Arts & Ethics Academy for its music curriculum.
The school also hosted an open house at 5:00 pm and had live student performances at the Chop’s Teen Club, showcasing their talents for the public and families.

This high school is special because it isn’t private. It allows students who are not financially wealthy to get a great education not only in the arts, but other subjects that they could be struggling in as well. Arts & Ethics Academy focuses on skills that will help students apply their academics in their everyday lives.
ZAP Electric Car Dealer Plants Tree for Grand Opening in Texas
SAN ANTONIO, TX--Oct 18, 2007 -- As oil prices hit another record this week, an electric car dealership opened today deep in the heart of Texas. San Antonio has the latest dealership for electric vehicle pioneer ZAP.
 |
| ZAP electric car dealer Tito Norris (right) held a tree-planting ceremony with manager Nathaniel Mack to mark the grand opening of their new dealership in San Antonio, Texas. They delivered the tree in a ZAP pickup to make a statement about two of the best ways to fight global warming. |
ZAP Electric Cars of San Antonio (http://www.zapcarsa.com), located at Loop 1604 and Stone Oak Parkway, is offering the Xebra®, a three-wheel, four-door compact car and two-seat pickup. The vehicle was designed for gas-free, city driving up to 40 MPH and plugs into any normal household outlet.
Owner Tito Norris and dealership manager Nathaniel Mack planted a tree to mark the opening of the ZAP electric car dealership. Norris said the best way to mitigate CO2 emissions is using an electric car in place of a gas car; another good way is planting trees, so he is doing both. For every car sold, ZAP Cars of San Antonio will pledge 200 trees, which is how many trees it takes to offset the emissions from a conventional gas car. The pledge is in support of ZAP's Million Tree Challenge.
Norris is a local orthodontist who was initially interested in owning a Xebra but decided to open the dealership when he found there were no dealerships in the area. Norris thinks Texas, known for being an oil state, will be a receptive market for electric vehicles and fits with his push to leave the planet a little greener.
"I've always had a leaning toward being a good steward of the environment since my Boy Scout days," Norris told the San Antonio Express News.
He has solar panels on his home. The electricity at his home and orthodontics business comes from wind power. He also collects rainwater for watering his lawn. So selling 100 percent electric cars was a good fit.

Electric Car
Manufacturer Shandong Jindalu Plants 1,000 Trees
With ZAP in China
Shandong Jindalu Dedicates Project
to New Factory, "Green Collar Jobs" in Ling Xian
LING XIAN,
China--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Chinese electric car
pioneer Shandong Jindalu planted 1,000 trees in
China as part of a US-China joint venture with
ZAP (OTCBB:ZAAP
-
News)
of the United States.
Employees of Shandong Jindalu recently completed
the project in honor of Earth Day 2007 to plant
1,000 trees in the city of Ling Xian, near the
factory where the electric cars are
manufactured. Officials from Shandong Jindalu
and ZAP launched the project in October 2006
with the planting of the "America-China
Friendship Tree" at Ling Xian Middle School. The
trees were planted with the support of the
Chinese government who allocated land to be used
for this purpose.
"We have been amazed by the support everyone has
shown for this project," said Yong Jiang,
representing the factory in China. "Everyone is
talking about green collar jobs. These workers
are hardcore environmentalists because their own
personal livelihood is combined with making the
world a better place."
According to Shandong Jindalu president Mr. Lu,
1000 trees were planted to honor their
commitment on past XEBRA production as well as
in dedication to a new manufacturing facility
planned for completion this summer.
Shandong Jindalu and ZAP entered into a
strategic partnership last year to fight global
warming by designing, manufacturing and
marketing electric vehicles. Experts say that
two of the best ways to fight global warming are
to use electric vehicles in place of gas
vehicles, and plant trees to absorb C02
emissions. The two companies have agreed that
for each vehicle delivered, trees would be
planted, with an overall goal to plant one
million trees by 2010.
ZAP says that it takes approximately 200 trees
to absorb the carbon dioxide emissions from one
gas car annually. Electric cars reduce
automotive emissions by 90 percent compared to
gas cars, including the emissions from power
plants.
As part of the venture, Shandong Jindalu and ZAP
are challenging individuals, businesses,
corporations, governments and other groups to
join its "Million Tree Challenge." The two
companies have linked up with tree planting
organizations around the world to plant trees in
equatorial regions for as little as $0.10 a
tree. ZAP says that over 67,000 trees have
already been planted so far in the name of the
challenge. To join in the tree planting efforts,

Jeito Moleque Adds Its Support
to ZAP's Million Tree Challenge
Brazil's
musical sensation Jeito Moleque represents today not only a
new generation of Brazilian popular music, but also a
generation that wants to act in a positive way towards life,
work and all its daily activities.
Jeito
Moleque is the face of a young nation in search of ways to
help the environment by doing two things: First, their Bank
of Trees project is helping make most of Jeito Moleque's
concerts "carbon neutral" by planting and nurturing trees.
They
have already planted 167 trees and will plant at least 327
by the end of 2007. For each tree they plant in the future,
they will pledge their efforts towards ZAP's "Million Tree
Challenge."
The
Brazilian band is constantly educating its fans about the
risks of global warming and how human activities, such as
driving a gas vehicle and even a concert, can have an
impact. Therefore, the planting of new trees can be an
important way to fight global warming.
Another interesting project developed
by Jeito Moleque is the “TALISMAN OF THE FOREST.” This
campaign was created to promote the use of sustainable
forestry certified with a FSC (Forest
Stewardship Council) insignia.
This certification represents that these wood products
originate from sustainable forests, where the extraction
does not hurt the environment and compromise the social
development of local communities.
The
development and implementation of all Jeito Moleque’s
environmental projects are assisted by OAK Education &
Environment, helping to turn their dreams into a reality.
Thanks, Bruno, Carlinhos, Alemão, Rafa
and Felipe for dedicating yours efforts not only to create
successful new songs, but more than this, to mobilize young
people in favor to the environment. They are scheduled to
come to the US this summer with concerts July 20 in Miami,
July 21 in Newark and July 22 in Boston. Learn more about

Richmond Mayor Gayle McLaughlin |
RICHMOND, California (March 29, 2007) -- In a city
usually known for big industry and emissions, newly
elected Mayor Gayle McLaughlin has committed to turning
Richmond into a flagship for sustainability and
environment with the introduction of three electric
trucks from Bay Area electric car pioneer ZAP (OTC BB:
ZAAP).
With a pledge to ask the Richmond City Council to create a
Department of Environment within 4 years, McLaughlin also
announced her commitment to fight global warming by
demonstrating Richmond's new electric vehicle pilot program.
The City of Richmond and Bay Area electric car pioneer ZAP
are launching a pilot fleet program to demonstrate ZAP
electric trucks in a city fleet, the first fleet in the
country to incorporate all-electric city-trucks. These
trucks will be used on the historic Bay Trail restoration
project with the City's Public Works department.
"As the first fleet in the country to incorporate
all-electric city-trucks we are proud to promote zero
emissions vehicles" said Richmond Mayor McLaughlin. "We're
signaling a direction. Our legacy for the young people of
Richmond is lower green house gas emissions, cleaner air,
less pollution and a greater commitment to make Richmond
vibrant and sustainable."

|
Thanks, to the Guys at Richmond for Planting
Trees! |
ZAP calls the XEBRA sedan and truck "city-cars," an electric
car design for inner city driving up to 40 MPH. Able to plug
into any standard electrical outlet, the XEBRA was designed
to quickly and affordably fill the need for all-electric
cars and trucks brought on by recent high gas prices. The
XEBRA is manufactured through a strategic partnership with a
Chinese auto manufacturer and available through ZAP's
authorized dealers at a price of about $10,000.
"Cities around the world are mandating the reduction of
greenhouse gas emissions and we want to thank the City of
Richmond for its environmental leadership as the first city
fleet in the nation to use ZAP trucks," said ZAP Chairman
Gary Starr. "We are also excited that Richmond has agreed to
join our Million Tree Challenge."
ZAP has challenged the world to join in planting one million
trees by 2010 and the City of Richmond Parks Department has
answered by planting a tree as part of the Mayor's
announcement and dedicating all its tree-planting efforts
through 2010 towards the challenge. Learn more about ZAP's
campaign at http://www.zaptrees.org.
Starr noted that electric vehicles add cost-benefits to city
fleets with rising gas prices, citing record oil prices for
2007 at $64 a barrel. He added that ZAP will be attending
the 13th national Alternative Fuels and Vehicles Conference
and Expo in Anaheim, California April 1-4 (http://www.afvi.org)
to showcase their new XEBRA XERO truck, a design that
incorporates a solar panel.

Electric Car Pioneer ZAP
Holds 'The Zero Air Pollution Test Drive to Fight Global
Warming' for Earth Day 2007
Tuesday
April 17, 7:00 am ET
ZAP to
Plant a Tree For Every Electric Car Test Drive in Honor
of Earth Day
SANTA
ROSA, Calif., April 17 -- Electric car pioneer ZAP (OTC
Bulletin Board: ZAAP), which stands for "Zero Air
Pollution," is asking people to celebrate Earth Day with
them by inviting everyone to local dealerships to
experience "Zero Air Pollution Driving."
ZAP is
promoting electric cars as a way to fight global
warming, but also has a simpler idea -- planting trees.
As part of ZAP's "Zero Air Pollution Test Drive to Fight
Global Warming," which will begin on Earth Day, Sunday,
April 22 and run through Monday, April 30, for each test
drive, ZAP will pledge a tree towards its "Million Tree
Challenge."
"At ZAP,
we think every day should be Earth Day," said ZAP CEO
Steve Schneider. "However, we want to take advantage of
this traditional celebration by letting people know
there is an environmentally friendly alternative form of
transportation available to them right now."
ZAP's
XEBRA (pronounced 'zebra) 100% electric car and truck
are now available, some of the only consumer electric
vehicles in the US that can meet the need for gas-free,
city-speed driving. The XEBRA is considered by ZAP as a
'city-car,' an all-electric design for city-speed
driving up to 40 mph. They plug into any 110-volt outlet
-- the same outlet that is found in and outside every
home, garage and office.
Launched in October 2006 with its Chinese manufacturing
partners, ZAP's "Million Tree Challenge" has planted
over 64,000 trees with the goal of planting a million
trees by 2010. ZAP is challenging individuals,
corporations, government agencies and other groups to
join its challenge, teaming up with tree-planting groups
around the world so that for a $25 minimum pledge to
http://www.zaptrees.org,
200 trees will be planted in the name of the benefactor
who will receive a certificate for their contribution.
"We all
know the important role trees play in the planet's
ability to offset carbon dioxide levels," said ZAP
Chairman Gary Starr. "By teaming the use of electric
vehicles in place of a gasoline powered vehicles and the
planting of more trees, we feel we can make a
significant impact on the environment for our immediate
and future generations."
In
addition to a test drive of the XEBRA, experts will be
on hand to answer questions about the technology and
features of this unique vehicle. The XEBRA comes in a
4-door sedan or pickup truck with a convertible
dump/flat bed and ranges in price from $10,000 to
$12,000. It plugs into a 110-volt outlet for a full
charge in up to six hours and a 50 percent charge in 1.5
hours. Range varies up to 40 miles per charge depending
on charge, speed, driving conditions and other factors.
Fueling is estimated to cost 1-3 cents per mile while
maintenance costs one-third that of gas due to the
reduction of moving parts, less wear and replacements.
"Rising
energy costs and concerns over the environment are
pressuring consumers to look for more alternatives,"
said Schneider, "An electric car like the XEBRA can cost
one-third to fuel versus a gasoline car and is more than
90 percent less polluting than gasoline, including the
emissions from power plants." |

Electric Car Maker ZAP (OTC BB:ZAAP) Invites World in
Planting One Million Trees to Combat Global Warming New
US-China Automotive Campaign Launches at ZAPTREES.ORG

Kelly Quirke, Executive Director for Friends of the
Urban Forest
(http://www.fuf.net), Yong Jiang representing Shandong
Jindalu of China, and Gary Starr, Chairman of ZAP, plant
the "sister" to a tree planted in China representing a
challenge for the world to plant one million trees.
SAN FRANCISCO, CA (November 20, 2006) – To help
counter global warming due to CO2 emissions, California
automotive pioneer ZAP (OTC BB: ZAAP) is challenging the
world to plant one million trees. The challenge came
during the launch of its new electric car and truck at
The San Francisco International Auto Show, open until
Sunday, November 26.
ZAP's campaign, which invites other groups, companies
and individuals to join in the planting of trees, is
being launched on its new website ZAPTREES.ORG ( http://www.zaptrees.org).
One tree would be planted in China for each XEBRA
electric car sold. ZAP intends to have one million trees
planted by 2010. ZAP has already provided the funding
for 50,000 trees to be planted over the next 12 months.
"The world's clean air leaders have been telling us that
one of the best ways to fight global warming and
pollution is to replace a gas car that is used for short
trips with an electric car," says ZAP Chairman Gary
Starr. "Trees can also play an important part in the
planet's ability to offset carbon dioxide levels and our
goal is for each XEBRA we sell, to provide funding for
100 trees."
Last month, ZAP and manufacturing partner Shandong
Jindalu planted "The America China Friendship Tree" in
China to symbolize their new joint venture. On Saturday,
a sister tree was planted in San Francisco by ZAP
co-founder Starr and Yong Jiang, a representative of
Shandong Jindalu. 22 trees were planted on Saturday in
partnership with ZAP and local non-profit Friends of the
Urban Forest ( http://www.fuf.com) as part of its 25th
Avenue Tree Planting Project. At a Noon news conference
inside the Auto Show at The Moscone Center, Gary Starr
of the US and Yong Jiang of China encouraged the public
to donate $25 for every electric car they purchase, so
they can offset additional gas car use. The donations
would be used to plant up to 200 trees through Trees for
the Future and other groups.
"Gas-burning cars are the second-largest source of US
global warming pollution, and one you can do something
about. But Americans will put more than 300 million new
cars on the road over the next 20 years -- if these gas
cars were substituted with electric cars, we could make
a major difference," said Starr. "Here's the math: If
you drive a gas car that gets 25 miles per gallon, this
car would produce approximately 10,000 pounds of C02. If
you replace this gas car with an electric car, even
after counting power plants emission to generate the
power, you can prevent up to 90 percent of these
emission from entering the atmosphere."
Recently, ZAP and Shandong Jindalu announced the
building of ZAP/Shandong auto manufacturing facility
that would produce a variety of alternative fuel
vehicles that reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
The Company has also launched a new solar powered
electric car called the XEBRA XERO, now on display at
The San Francisco International Auto Show November. The
vehicle comes with a rooftop solar panel that can allow
it to be a 100 percent non-polluting car. The XERO
allows the driver with a short commute to own a vehicle
that can refuel on a cheap and renewable
resource--sunlight. Panels consume no fuel and have no
moving parts to wear out. The only maintenance is to
occasionally wash for highest performance. |

Gary Starr Chairman of ZAP!
Planting the First Tree in China |
The
"America China Friendship Tree" was selected to symbolize
the new U.S.-China joint venture to develop forms of
transportation that reduce greenhouse gas emissions. ZAP
Chairman Gary Starr says the collaboration can go a long way
towards restoring a balance with nature.
"A
typical gas car can produce as much as 6 tons of carbon
dioxide a year," says Starr.
"So the best thing you can do to offset your personal carbon
footprint is replace that gas car with an electric car.
Another way is to plant and raise trees."
The joint
venture agreement signed by ZAP and Shandong Jindalu pledges
that for every vehicle sold a tree would be planted in
the United States and China. Starr attended the ceremony
in Lingxian with Shandong Jindalu President Mr. Lu,
government officials and auto industry leaders. The tree was
planted in front of Lingxian Middle School, the city's
largest, and government officials have agreed to plant
additional trees along a nearby river.
The event
also dedicated the new construction of a manufacturing
facility to accommodate the joint venture. Projected for
completion by summer of 2007, the factory would have the
capacity to produce 50,000 vehicles a year employing a
workforce of 1,200. ZAP has established an office in
Dezhou to facilitate the joint venture. The factory would
design and manufacture a variety of new vehicles, including
an electric car and other forms of transportation powered by
alternative energy.
The joint
venture agreement includes a declaration: "Recognizing that
petroleum is a finite source of energy and that 54 percent
of all petroleum is used to fuel our vehicles, and that one
of the major causes of global pollution and global warming
is the burning of petroleum in conventional vehicles and
that one of the fastest growing segments of CO2 production
is the replacement of bicycles around the world with
conventional, non-efficient petrol burning vehicles."
The joint
venture also invites "entrepreneurs, capitalists,
governmental and educational institutions throughout China
and the world to join in the tree planting effort. The joint
venture also seeks energy storage and battery companies,
battery manufacturing, solar energy, engine development, new
material design, automobile manufacturing, parts and
supplies distribution, as well as engineering and design
services from throughout the world to join in the venture." |
