It was a pleasure meeting everyone at ZAP and after leaving
your headquarters I started thinking about ZAP and its
mission in electric transportation. The more I thought about
it, the more I started seeing a bigger picture of the
importance of ZAP's mission and what I saw was a connection
between music and electricity.
When electricity was invented more than 100 years ago, that
was the future. Oil dependency was manufactured despite the
expensive research and manufacturing, not to mention the
dangers involving gas or oil. So, I see ZAP as being about
going 'back' to the future, bringing independence to an
individual in terms of their mobility. At the same time, ZAP
is enabling individuals to become energy independent, thus
representing the harmony with the world around him/her to
become one. It is reaching the goal of one's
balanced life.
When I thought of this, now I understand why my friend
wanted me to look into ZAP. My music is nothing but the
reflection of what exists around us. I capture it on an
instrument. But I try to pass on the feeling that music
gives, allowing a human to be in harmony with their
surroundings. It is an individual harmony a human sometimes
cannot feel when they are blinded by so much mass marketing.
So, I think ZAP, just like music, does bring people closer
to 'magic' we all long for. I really felt it when I saw
ZAP's campaign to fight global warming by advocating
electricity and the planting of trees. So, I accept your
invitation to join the ZAP trees campaign, not only with
tree planting but with my music. "Color My Feelings" from my
new album really expresses the feeling I try to pass on to
help people to feel a sense of self, the yearning for
happiness, the same feeling I get when I see the planting of
so many trees.
I am helping with the opening of a new high school in Santa Rosa
called the Arts & Ethics Academy (http://routesforyouth.org).
They have agreed to plant a tree for ZAP as part of their
opening ceremonies in September and I will be there to help.
Interesting enough, I have a friend in Los Angeles who was
in a car accident because someone was in a hurry and crashed
into her. I guarantee if the car were electric the haste
would have been non-existent. Think how calming these would
be to traffic, especially in cities like Los Angeles or New
York.
